Born in 1974 to a local Musician, John has practically lived as a musician. During his childhood, he attended several local ceremonies and watched his relatives entertain huge gatherings. He quickly learned his relatives' skill and while in H.G.M Primary School,he formed his own Trio band named ''The Bush Fire Trio'' Playing Bass and back-voicing during italian nights at Malindi for almost Five years before splitting.
Later on while in Barani Secondary School he took his first step into the professional music industry with the well known and National band ''The Magazine’s Band''.Together with the band, John then only 17 years of age performed at Eden Rock during the Italian Nights. The band continued performing for tourists in the Coastal Region for a couple of years but when the tourism industry deteriorated in the late 90s, they decided to move to Nairobi where they performed at Pan Afrique hotel for 2 years before splitting.
In 1999,John moved to Italy where he joined the legendary Isolaeea Band and was consequently enrolled in The University of Music of Firenze and finished in 2003 as a Pianist,Guitarist,Bass player,Songwritter,music Arranger,composer and teacher at The Atheneaum Musicale Fiorentino. Although he is still an active member of The Isolaeea, in 2010 John explored his unique feel of beat and rhythm releasing his debut album “My Ocean” a 7 track album with a compelling blend of modernity and African-european Traditions expressed in the thrilling fusion of instruments from both influences.
Together with Isolaeea, John has performed in a variety of events in and out side italy including state functions,Wedding and so many other functions and was instrumental and Vocal in the band’s release of “ Sogno” and “ Ogni Oceano” albums.
John describes his music as ''Contemporary Afro-Italo Fusion'' owing to his smooth blend of modern, guitars,Keyboards & Pianoand Bass. He also plays around with Defferent Bands like: The Contraband (Hard Rock,Rock Melodic),Isolaeea (reggae ,Ska,Afro-Beat, Roots), The Dee Teen Cool(Afro-cuban,Brasilian,Funck,Fusion,Reggae,Dance) Tea For Two (Standards Jazz,Blues Pop).
In the summer of 2007 John and The Contraband reached the final of Emergenza's unsigned Competition,a competition that attracted over 2000 unsigned acts.In April of the same year John and The Contraband featured in Latina Boy Band and have since had National Radio luna air play in Italy.
